Base Mechanic

Our client, based in Aberdeen, is looking for a Base Mechanic to join their team on a staff contract basis

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair all company equipment to the highest standards, including yard equipment and HYDRO-BOOST diesel pumps.
  • Assist with repairs to centrifugal pump ends and replace component parts as required.
  • Prepare and carry out Third-Party Release Inspections to ensure HYDRO-BOOST diesel pumps can be successfully mobilised offshore.
  • Develop a broad and effective knowledge of mechanical shutdown systems, including overspeed, gas shutdown and emergency-stop systems.
  • Ensure calibration and safety systems on equipment are kept up to date and records are filed appropriately.
  • Assist with procurement activities for the Mechanical Department.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the Mechanical Bay and stores
  • Attend other work sites when required.
  • Participate in the workshop on-call rota

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Recognised Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Maintenance qualification.
  • Previous experience working as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • Previous experience within an offshore, oil & gas or industrial environment.
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance, servicing and repair.
  • Knowledge and experience of pressure testing.
  • Knowledge of valves and fittings.
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
