This role sits within a dynamic Workplace Training and Development function and plays a vital part in supporting organisational growth through high-quality, sector-specific training delivery. The Workplace Training Specialist will primarily deliver a bespoke mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention training programme tailored to the energy sector. This includes delivering engaging, high-impact training to diverse audiences across onshore and offshore environments, and sharing insights that inform the continuous development of sector-relevant content. The programme is designed to address key industry challenges such as remote and isolated working, safety-critical cultures, workforce transitions, and the unique pressures associated with offshore life.

The post holder will contribute to an intensive insight-gathering and development phase, participating in focus groups, stakeholder engagement and evidence collection to support the creation and refinement of a tailored training offer for the energy sector. In addition to training delivery, the post holder will provide compassionate, non-clinical mental-health support and informed signposting within a dedicated wellbeing support hub in Aberdeen for individuals from the energy sector who seek follow-on support. This includes offering guidance and connecting individuals to appropriate internal and external services, including specialist support relevant to the energy workforce.

Alongside the bespoke energy programme, the post holder may also deliver a wider range of workplace training and advisory services to organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors, as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging and sector-relevant mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention training to energy sector audiences, including offshore installations, remote sites and onshore bases.
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging mental health and wellbeing training to wider workplace audiences.
  • Provide non-clinical mental-health support and signposting to individuals from the energy sector accessing the Aberdeen-based wellbeing hub, including:
  • Safe, supportive conversations to explore needs and concerns
  • Identification of any requirement for further support
  • Informed signposting and collaborative working with the wider support team
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of effective training delivery methods to ensure sessions are engaging, dynamic and audience-centred.
  • Keep abreast of developments and trends in workplace wellbeing to support effective engagement with clients, stakeholders and training participants.
  • Promote the benefits of prioritising mental health in the workplace and support opportunities to expand and enhance the workplace training offer.
  • Contribute to the product development pipeline by:
    • Supporting the design, testing and refinement of training products and supporting resources
    • Contributing to continuous improvement and regular product reviews
    • Sharing delivery insights to strengthen training quality across the wider trainers' network
    • Liaising with clients and product development colleagues to support bespoke requests
  • Act as an ambassador for the programme, representing the organisation at industry events, conferences and stakeholder engagements.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support strategic aims and foster a culture of cooperation and adaptability.
  • Other Duties
    • Act as a positive ambassador for workplace mental health and wellbeing when engaging with external stakeholders.
    • Maintain ongoing personal and professional development aligned with the role.
    • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and purpose of the post.
    Working Relationships

    The post holder will work closely with colleagues across Workplace Training, Product Development and Business Development to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement of training and support services. They will collaborate with fellow Workplace Training Specialists to ensure consistency of approach, quality assurance and peer support. Close partnership working with Product Development colleagues will support the ongoing evolution of training content and resources. The role also involves close collaboration with colleagues based within the Aberdeen wellbeing support hub to ensure a safe, welcoming and consistent experience for individuals seeking support. Externally, the post holder will maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, clients and funders connected to the energy sector training programme, supporting communication, reporting and delivery requirements.

    Working Environment / Special Circumstances

    The team operates a hybrid working model, combining remote working with in-person collaboration where beneficial. This role involves offshore travel; therefore, the post holder must be willing and able to complete required survival training (BOSIET/FOET) and offshore medical certification (OEUK), which will be provided. Offshore visits may involve short-notice changes, early departures and rotational working patterns. Training delivery may occasionally take place outside standard business hours to align with shift patterns. The post holder will also be required to travel across Scotland, including overnight stays and multi-day trips. Access to personal transport is essential.

    • Previous offshore work experience or familiarity with offshore culture

    • Understanding of mental-health challenges specific to the energy and offshore environment
    • Mental health-related qualification (e.g. SCQF Levels 4–5 or equivalent)

    • Qualification to deliver accredited courses (e.g. SMHFA, ASIST)
