Job Description

We are recruiting a Category Management & Strategic Sourcing Advisor for our client in Aberdeen.

Category management is the strategic approach to organizing total spend into discrete categories that are each actively monitored and managed with a strategy that will generate and sustain the most value.

Strategic sourcing is the process designed to meet objectives identified through category management, driving proactive, holistic, and continuous evaluation of the targeted spend within the organization to maximize value.

Working within the Category Management & Strategic Sourcing function of the Supply Chain Management group, the Senior Advisor will develop decommissioning strategies to minimize the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) from third parties, coordinate the implementation of category strategies, conduct sourcing events, and manage supplier performance for continuous improvement. The Advisor will collaborate with company’s operating assets and stakeholders to maximize opportunities and ensure buy-in.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category strategies for the North Sea Decommissioning Program.
  • Perform assessments of goods and services, develop supply market analysis, and construct cost models for long-term spend management.
  • Evaluate category levers such as pooled demand, standard designs, and supplier incentives to drive improvement.
  • Manage competitive bidding processes locally and globally.
  • Optimize total costs by leveraging markets, forming supplier alliances, and exploring supply chain efficiencies.
  • Create bid evaluation models with input from stakeholders.
  • Develop negotiation strategies and execute commercial agreements, ensuring risk is properly allocated.
  • Monitor supply market indicators and adjust strategies proactively.
  • Work with stakeholders and suppliers to create accurate forecasts and manage inventory levels.
  • Drive supplier performance through KPI measurement and operational performance communication.
  • Challenge teams creatively to identify opportunities for financial or competitive advantages.
  • Apply extensive industry knowledge across business, technical, legal, and geographic facets.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems like SAP.
