About the role
We're looking for an experienced Account Director to lead the strategic direction of some of Tug's most exciting clients.
This role combines strategic consultancy, technical expertise, team leadership and commercial ownership.
You'll be responsible for developing integrated Organic Search strategies across discovery platforms (SEO, Social Search and AI Powered discovery)
You'll build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, mentor and develop members of the Organic team, contribute to agency innovation, and play a key role in new business growth.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll be expected to combine strategic thinking with the ability to dive into complex organic challenges when required.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and lead integrated SEO & GEO strategies that deliver measurable commercial outcomes.
- Act as the senior strategic lead across your client portfolio, building trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
- Provide strategic direction and hands-on support across technical SEO, content strategy, AI Search and digital discoverability.
- Ensure consistently high-quality client delivery through mentoring, reviewing and supporting the Organic team.
- Identify opportunities for client growth, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Support new business through pitch development, strategy, scoping and forecasting.
- Develop and coach Account Managers and Executives, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team.
- Help evolve Tug's Organic offering, processes and ways of working while ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the team.
Skills, knowledge, and experience required.
- 4-5 years+ SEO experience, ideally within an agency, with a proven track record of delivering successful organic growth strategies.
- Strong expertise across technical SEO, content strategy, information architecture, analytics and performance measurement.
- Good understanding of AI Search, Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and how emerging search experiences are changing discoverability.
- Commercially minded, with experience managing senior client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
- Excellent leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly analytical, organised and detail-oriented, with strong planning and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident communicator and presenter with a passion for innovation and the future of Organic Search
