The department has ongoing opportunities for part-time instructors who will teach courses that expand the breadth of our offerings in the upper-level curriculum. The department, which is dedicated to growing its research base while maintaining excellence in teaching, has core disciplines in four areas:

  • Thermal Fluid Systems
  • Material Mechanics and Processing
  • Robotic, Aeronautic and Automated Systems
  • Product Design and Human Factors

Tufts School of Engineering (SOE) distinguishes itself by the interdisciplinary focus and integrative nature of its engineering education and research programs, within the intellectually rich environment of both a "Research I" university and a top-ranked undergraduate institution. The past ten years have been a period of extraordinary growth for SOE at Tufts, with recruitment of over half of its current tenured and tenure-track faculty members and a more than three-fold increase in research productivity. We are looking for experienced engineers with strong teaching and communication skills who can bring the breadth of their experience to seniors and graduate students in mechanical engineering and human factors. Advanced degree or equivalent industry experience is required, PhD is preferred. We will give preference to engineers whose experience complements that of the department faculty and who have previously demonstrated exceptional teaching skills.
