The Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Branch Manager to support the leadership of our High Wycombe Branch. This is a key role within the branch, working closely with the Branch Manager to drive sales performance, operational standards, and team development. This role is ideal for a proven Assistant Branch Manager or senior trade counter/branch supervisor looking to progress their career within a well-established, employee-owned business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Branch Manager in the day-to-day running of the branch
- Help drive sales growth and margin performance through excellent customer service
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local trade customers and suppliers
- Lead by example on the trade counter, ensuring high service standards
- Assist with stock control, stock accuracy, and availability
- Support team training, development, and performance management
- Ensure health & safety and operational procedures are followed at all times
- Step up to manage the branch in the Branch Manager’s absence
About You
- Previous experience as an Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Supervisor, or senior trade counter role within a plumbing, heating, or building materials merchant
- Strong product knowledge and understanding of branch operations
- Confident communicator with good people management skills
- Commercially aware with a customer-focused mindset
- Organised, hands-on, and keen to develop into a Branch Manager role
- Good understanding of stock control and H&S requirements
