My client specialises in the design and manufacture of advanced RF electronics and communication systems. They lead in high technology products for the defence and law enforcement sectors.

My client is going through rapid expansion and is now establishing manufacturing in the UK. Due to the security nature of the sector my client operates in, candidates will undergo initial assessment and vetting before further information about the company is disclosed.

The Graduate Electronics Production Engineer will support the manufacture, assembly, testing, and continuous improvement of electronic products within a structured electronics manufacturing environment. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain teams, the role will assist in ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, consistently, and to the required quality standards.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to launch their engineering career within a high-technology electronics manufacturing environment. Working alongside experienced engineers and manufacturing professionals, the successful candidate will gain hands-on exposure to production engineering, process improvement, New Product Introduction (NPI), quality systems, and advanced electronics manufacturing techniques.

The Graduate Electronics Production Engineer will contribute to maintaining production efficiency, supporting manufacturing growth, and ensuring products are delivered to customers on time and to specification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day production engineering activities within the electronics manufacturing facility.
  • Assist with the introduction of new products into production, including prototype, pilot, and production builds.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing documentation including work instructions, assembly procedures, and process flows.
  • Support investigations into manufacturing issues, product defects, and process inefficiencies.
  • Work alongside Production teams to identify and implement improvements to quality, productivity, and throughput.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action activities relating to manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs), production records, and engineering documentation.
  • Participate in process validation, production trials, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with manufacturing standards and procedures.
  • Assist in the selection, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing tools, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Analyse production data and performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and manufacturing change implementation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ESD control procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams to achieve operational objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports relating to production engineering activities.
  • Support the development of efficient manufacturing processes as the facility continues to expand.
General Qualifications
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of electronic principles and manufacturing processes gained through academic study, projects, placements, or internships.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of PCB assembly, electronic components, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Understanding of basic test and measurement equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing documentation, process control, and quality principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Aware of health and safety requirements within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

  • Placement year, internship, or industrial experience within electronics manufacturing or engineering.
  • Experience working with PCB assembly, electronics testing, or production environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems.
  • Experience creating technical documentation or manufacturing work instructions.
  • Understanding of RF or communications technologies.
  • Knowledge of ESD control and electronics manufacturing best practices.
  • Experience using CAD or ECAD software packages.
  • Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
