As a Site Security Controller at Awerian, you will own the strategic development of an effective physical security culture within the company, and manage the day-to-day delivery of security policy, procedure and risk assessment in respect of all security matters. You will work closely with the existing Personnel Security Controller and Board Level Contact, to ensure robust and exacting standards are observed at all times.

You will build on your successful track record in compliance and/or the defence or national security sector, and take responsibility for a variety of essential site security functions, including:

  • Establishing the company approach to site security, creating and managing company security instructions and policies, ensuring compliance with legislation and principles of best practice, embedded in relevant Government standards.
  • Managing assets and associated audits and musters, maintaining all relevant security registers and records, ensuring processes are efficient and effective evidence and documentation is held.
  • Conducting security briefings and managing insider risk.
  • Investigating, recording and reporting on any site security incidents.
  • Owning the site security onboarding for new starters in the business, working alongside the Personnel Security Controller, covering induction, ongoing security awareness and education as well as exit from the business.
  • Taking ownership of site security related training, education and awareness such that all staff understand the policies and interpretation of security risk and actions required.
  • Contributing to strategic planning, factoring in site security elements, current and future capabilities and making yourself readily available to consult with both the Personnel Security Controller as well as senior business leaders.
  • Preparing for, facilitating and running site visits and inspections from individuals representing Government or a Contracting Authority, ensuring that all relevant documentation is available for inspection.
  • All other ad hoc matters of site security as they arise, in collaboration with the Personnel Security Controller and Board Level Contact.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to BSc or above (or equivalent). A STEM or Legal discipline may be helpful but is not necessary.
  • A background appropriate to the level of responsibility in a relevant field such as compliance, security, or regulatory affairs.
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to present complex technical and non-technical security information, concepts and intelligence to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders, both internal and external to the business.
  • Willing and comfortable to challenge assumptions and interrogate reasoning.
  • Collaborative by nature – seeking out and promoting the ethos of clear communication and stakeholder engagement in matters of site security.
  • Able to deputise for the Personnel Security Controller, maintaining an awareness of all company security related matters.
  • Avid follower of improvements and advancements in security technology, to drive personal and professional development.
