We’re looking for someone to join our collaborative Diagnostics team to design and develop a diverse range of instruments and consumables. You will have the opportunity to work on projects across all of Life Science. As a mechanical design engineer at TTP you will play a key role in concept development and evolution of detailed design solutions using CAD. You will be able to challenge your technical knowledge following very precise mechanical requirements for complex electromechanical instruments. Often working on multiple projects simultaneously, you will be trusted to manage your own time to deliver your design work to client timelines. You’ll be an experienced mechanical designer with excellent design capabilities, a wider understanding of the electromechanical considerations of product development and an innovative approach to problem solving. If you’re a design engineer who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment, enjoys tackling complex challenges and approaches design with precision and creativity, then we’re looking for you.
Qualifications
- Highly proficient in 3D CAD (ideally including SolidWorks; OnShape would be an advantage)
- Familiarity with assembly jigs and test equipment
- Experience using ideation methods (ideally including mind‑mapping, brainstorming, functional analysis, and/or morphological analysis)
- Ability to present ideas through sketches, animations, photorealistic renderings and rapid prototyping
- Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques
- Ability to perform tolerance analysis on parts and assemblies
- Experience of sourcing off‑the‑shelf and custom parts and building relationships with and managing suppliers
- Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities of multiple projects
- Hands‑on ability to build, test and troubleshoot
- Experience contributing to dFMEA and/or pFMEA documents would be an advantage
- Ability to design plastic injection moulded parts would be an advantage
This role will be a full‑time, onsite position.
