As we embark on our ambitious 3X10X plan, aimed at tripling the size of our business while achieving ten times the positive impact, we are looking for an experienced professional who is a self-starter, ambitious and has experience in a fast-paced environment. Since mid-2023, our Northern Ireland division has experienced significant growth, driven by successful framework wins with the Health and Social Care (HSC) sector and partnerships with private, voluntary, and not-for-profit organisations. Our commercial team is expanding rapidly, and we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Business Manager to lead this growth, drive operational excellence, and develop high-performance teams in the region.
Role Overview: The Business Manager for Northern Ireland will be responsible for the full operational and strategic oversight of our rapidly growing division. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will lead the team, driving performance, business development, and client relationship management. You’ll be expected to manage the P&L for the Northern Ireland division and work closely with the senior leadership team to shape the long-term vision and strategy. The role also involves working closely with central operations teams responsible for talent attraction, compliance, candidate file maintenance, and shift booking, ensuring that the commercial team can focus on in-person client and candidate engagement. This is a senior leadership role and requires a highly experienced individual with proven expertise in recruitment (preferably healthcare recruitment) and a strong track record in managing growing teams in Northern Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
- Divisional Leadership & Growth Management: Lead and manage the Northern Ireland division, overseeing sales, business development, and recruitment operations. Drive growth from successful multi-year framework wins with HSC and increase opportunities in the private, voluntary, and not-for-profit sectors. Oversee recruitment strategy and talent acquisition for both internal staff and healthcare candidates. Implement robust candidate acquisition strategies to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
- Financial and Operational Accountability: Full P&L ownership for the division. Develop and manage divisional budgets, forecasts, and financial targets, ensuring profitability and performance. Ensure that divisional KPIs and activity align with business strategy and corporate targets.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, motivate, and develop a growing commercial team, supporting their career progression, performance, and development. Manage recruitment for internal teams and talent succession planning. Work alongside central operations teams (Talent Attraction, Compliance, Candidate File Maintenance, Shift Booking) to ensure smooth operations and client-facing time for commercial teams.
- Business Development & Client Management: Build and maintain relationships with key clients, both within the public sector (HSC) and the private, voluntary, and not-for-profit sectors. Represent the company at client meetings, industry conferences, and tender meetings. Drive new business opportunities and increase market share in Northern Ireland.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting: Lead the strategy for the division’s long-term growth, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market opportunities. Regularly report on divisional performance, P&L reviews, and progress against key goals to the senior leadership team and board. Act as a key liaison between Northern Ireland operations and central leadership teams.
- Cultural Leadership & Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Foster a strong, positive, and inclusive team culture within the Northern Ireland division. Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence. Work closely with senior management across other divisions, including the Commercial Director and department heads, to ensure cohesive and effective delivery.
Professional Skills:
- Experience in Healthcare Recruitment: Previous experience in healthcare recruitment in Northern Ireland, ideally in public, private, and voluntary sectors.
- Leadership Experience: Proven experience managing and leading a recruitment team or commercial division with demonstrable success.
- Financial Acumen: Experience in managing P&L, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and implement long-term growth strategies based on market insights and business needs.
- Client Relationship Management: Strong relationship-building skills with key stakeholders, clients, and candidates.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and recruitment systems.
