Senior Mechatronics Engineer

As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you’ll bring future product concepts to life by integrating mechanical, electrical and embedded technologies into intelligent proof of concepts.

Working at the front end of innovation, you’ll rapidly build, test and refine demonstrators that reduce technical uncertainty, accelerate learning and showcase the potential of emerging technologies.

Working alongside Advanced Development, Design Research and Industrial Design, you’ll bridge disciplines to create compelling product experiences through practical, hands on engineering.

Key Duties include

  • Rapidly integrate mechanical, electrical and embedded technologies into intelligent product concepts and proof of concepts.
  • Design, build and validate demonstrators that showcase sensing, control, automation and connected technologies.
  • Develop experimental rigs, development platforms and prototypes that answer key engineering questions and accelerate learning.
  • Apply practical engineering and rapid experimentation to de risk technologies and mature concepts.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, motors, embedded controllers and communication technologies into future consumer products.
  • Collaborate closely with Advanced Engineers to bring concepts to life through intelligent functionality and system integration.
  • Troubleshoot multidisciplinary systems, identifying root causes and rapidly implementing practical solutions.
  • Work with suppliers and global TTI engineering teams to evaluate, develop and integrate emerging technologies.
  • Present technical concepts, demonstrators and recommendations through clear, engaging communication and storytelling.

You’re a multidisciplinary engineer who loves making ideas real.

You’re equally comfortable wiring electronics, writing code, machining a part, printing a part or integrating sensors into a working prototype.

You instinctively look for the fastest way to answer a technical question, combining creativity with strong engineering fundamentals to rapid prove what’s possible.

Skills, Experience & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc or BEng) in Mechatronics, Electrical, Robotics Engineering or related discipline. (Master’s advantageous but not required).
  • 8+ Years experience developing innovative electromechanical or consumer products within an Advanced Development, R&D or NPD setting.
  • Strong understanding of Electrical Engineering, embedded systems and consumer product development.
  • Practical experience integrating sensors, motors, actuators, embedded controllers and communication technologies into working systems.
  • Experience developing proof of concepts using development boards, rapid prototyping techniques, embedded software and workshop equipment.
  • Confident writing embedded software, scripting or application code to rapidly demonstrate new ideas and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering, product architecting, manufacturing processes and system integration.
  • Excellent practical engineering skills, with the ability to rapidly build, modify and troubleshoot concepts using whatever tools, components or technologies are available.
  • Comfortable working across both engineering and design teams to deliver integrated consumer solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and story telling skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and recommendations.
