BTG Pactual is seeking an Infrastructure Specialist to join its Technology team in London. The role is hands-on, demanding strong technical grounding across corporate server infrastructure, VMware, Dell server hardware, and Pure storage, and the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and resolve complex issues. A core component of the position is ownership of the firm’s disaster recovery capability — design, implementation, testing, runbook development, and ongoing refinement of recovery procedures to meet RTO and RPO targets. The successful candidate will also apply AI-powered tools to develop automation scripts, infrastructure-as-code templates, and streamline operational workflows. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent role upon successful completion. The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the London office and the flexibility to increase on-site attendance to four or five days when business needs or critical incidents arise.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate infrastructure tasks across global environments, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Liaise with stakeholders and technical teams worldwide; manage vendor relationships and escalate hardware/software issues as required.
- Design and implement high-availability architectures across on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring minimal downtime and service continuity.

- Implement and maintain AWS security best practices, including network segmentation, IAM policies, and encryption.
- Leverage AI-powered coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to develop and optimise automation scripts, PowerShell/Python code, and infrastructure-as-code templates.
- Configure server monitoring alerts, VM backups on Rubrik, and execute daily monitoring checks to ensure storage/backup procedures function correctly.
- Design and build high-availability and DR architectures; perform capacity planning; manage and test backup and recovery plans.
- Automate daily operational tasks; define and apply GPOs; control access permissions and privileges; manage Office 365 configurations.
- Participate in an on-call support rota to provide after-hours and weekend coverage for critical infrastructure incidents; execute planned production environment changes outside standard business hours.
