TT2 Limited, the operator of the iconic Tyne Tunnels, has an exciting opportunity for a proactive experienced full-time Technical Maintenance Planner to join our friendly and supportive team at our premises in Wallsend, North Tyneside (this is not a remote position). About this career opportunity:

This is a brand-new vacancy and an exciting opportunity to join the team at a time of ongoing expansion within our operations team. The role is varied and interesting and you will play a critical role in the ongoing safety, reliability, and functionality of the tunnel’s infrastructure. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that all technical systems within the tunnels such as electrical, mechanical, fabric, ventilation, lighting, fire detection, suppression, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), are maintained to the highest standards.

Main role responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing structured maintenance plans to help prevent unexpected failures, reduce downtime, and extend the lifespan of critical assets.
  • Acting as a central coordinator, liaising between Maintenance, Operations, Safety and Assurance, and external contractors to ensure that maintenance work is thoroughly planned and resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Developing and maintaining preventative, reactive and predictive maintenance schedules for all tunnel systems (mechanical, electrical, civil, SCADA, fire safety, ventilation, lighting etc).
  • Generating, assigning, and tracking work orders using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Prioritising and coordinating planned maintenance activities to minimise disruption to tunnel operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Additional certificates in maintenance planning are advantageous.
  • More than 3 years’ experience of maintenance planning.

Desirable Skill Requirements:

  • Experience using CMMS/asset management software.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and maintenance software.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Detail-oriented and methodical.

Location and working hours:

Working as part of the Operational Delivery team, you will be working 37 hours per week based in our Wallsend office. The office hours are Monday to Thursday 08.30 – 16.30 including 30‑minute unpaid lunch break and Friday 08.30 – 16.00 including 30‑minute unpaid lunch break. You may require site visits to tunnel environments (confined spaces, noisy areas).
