Role Overview and Responsibilities

TT Electronics, Abercynon, is hiring for a Head of Project Management and Commercial, responsible for driving sustainable business growth through the successful delivery of complex customer programmes.

A key element of the role is providing leadership and governance across programme execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to customer expectations whilst maintaining profitability and managing risk.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Building, nurturing, and expanding long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Identifying opportunities to grow within existing programmes and develop new product or programme opportunities in the Rail, Defence and Industrial sectors.
  • Providing leadership and governance across all customer programmes and projects from bid award through to delivery.
  • Ensuring robust project management disciplines, controls, reporting, and risk management processes are embedded across the Programmes Team.
  • Developing and executing commercial strategies that enhance profitability, sustainability, and growth within existing accounts.
  • Leading contract renegotiations and bid management to secure favourable terms aligned with business objectives.
  • Owning and delivering the key inputs into the Demand Review for the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Leading and managing the Programmes Team and Inside Sales Team, ensuring clear direction, accountability, and delivery against objectives.
  • Identifying and mitigating commercial and contractual risks across bids and ongoing customer programmes.
  • Maintaining deep knowledge of Rail, Defence and Industrial sector trends, customer developments, and competitor activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

What we're looking for:

  • Significant project and programme management experience within a manufacturing, aerospace, defence, rail, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Experience managing programme risks, schedules, resources, change control, and customer escalations.
  • A strong track record in customer relationship management, particularly with long-term strategic accounts.
  • Expertise in programme and bid management, with ability to negotiate and secure commercially favourable agreements.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with the ability to manage budgets, assess risks, and drive profitability.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Results-driven, proactive, and able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

The following would enhance your application but is not essential to apply:

  • A formal project management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or equivalent.
