Role Overview and Responsibilities

  • Operational

Buyer to join our busy Purchasing team.

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will ensure reliable, on-time, and fully available material supply from suppliers to our manufacturing site.

As our

Buyer , you will own supplier execution, shortage management, and mid-term supply assurance, ensuring materials arrive to the factory at the right time, in the right quantity, to the right quality and right cost to support production, and kitting requirements.

You will also oversee supplier inbound quality issues, especially where they affect material availability, to secure stable, interruption-free supply performance.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Purchase Order & Logistics Execution
  • Ensure that all systems are up to date and have valid information.
  • Use the appropriate system interrogate signals to ensure true, accurate and timely release of purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Coordinate logistics activities as required to meet delivery requirements.
  • Support the concession process, where required.
  • Supplier Delivery Performance Management
  • Own and build strong day-to-day operational relationships with suppliers.
  • Update PO confirmations and Identify risks in inbound supply.
  • Monitor and manage supplier adherence to delivery schedules, quantities, lead times and costs.
  • Drive supplier recovery actions when performance falls below required levels.
  • Manage escalation processes for critical materials impacting production.
  • Ensure all data is reflected in the site operational shortage sheets, with an emphasis on actionable comments, delivery and dates, and timely updates.
  • Take ownership of issue resolution internally to facilitate on time delivery of products.
  • Risk Management
  • Support risk management by updating risks through Vend Digital (Siemens).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Participate in the SPQDC process.
  • Provide supplier performance inputs for ongoing supplier evaluations and future sourcing decisions.
  • Continuous Improvement & Performance Tracking
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and drive corrective actions.
  • Support improvements in inbound supply processes.
  • Support drive for cost conscious control including PPV targets.
  • Inventory Management
  • Play an active part in managing inventory levels.
  • Manage inventory agreements within the supply chain.
  • Material Management
  • Cost Roll – Interrogate and update year end standards.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Skills and Experience required

  • A strong understanding of purchasing, inbound supply management, logistics flows, and supplier operations.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems and supplier scheduling processes.
  • Knowledge of lead-time structures, MOQ, safety stock strategies, and material availability drivers.
  • Experience in supply chain, supplier management, materials management, and logistics coordination.
  • A problem-solving mindset with ability to manage escalations under time pressure.
  • Analytical approach to performance tracking and risk identification.
  • Proactive and highly organised.
  • The following would enhance your application but is not essential to apply:
  • A background in manufacturing or high-mix environments.
  • Experience working across multiple sites or in a matrix organisation is beneficial.

This is a full-time, onsite position.
