Company Overview Located north of Newcastle upon Tyne, TT Electronics’ Bedlington facility is home to a specialist engineering team delivering microcircuit production and custom power electronics solutions for aerospace and defence, supporting safety‑critical applications in harsh environments.

Role Overview and Responsibilities We have a vacancy for a Senior Test System Design Engineer within our Microelectronics business. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Test Engineer who will work closely with the product development team to design and develop the necessary test capability for new products as well as delivering improvement projects on existing test equipment. Reporting directly to the Test Engineering Manager you’ll work with a small team where autonomy and trust are fundamental.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of test system architecture (hardware, software, fixtures, interfaces)
  • Lead improvement and new test system development projects
  • Develop automated test software (LabView, Python, Test Standard, etc.)
  • Develop GUI’s for operators and debug tools for engineers
  • Leading & supporting failure analysis to distinguish between product and test issues
  • Proactively work on continuous improvement opportunities
  • Update/produce technical documentation such as circuit diagrams, test plans, BoM’s, and operating instructions
  • Support production, troubleshooting issues with automated test systems
  • Provide training and support to production operators

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Significant industry experience and a degree in Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated organisational, planning and program skills with careful attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and work well within a team
  • Keen to learn new skills and look for opportunities for self development.
  • Have a technical bias, with strong problem‑solving abilities.

The following would be beneficial to the role but are certainly not essential:

  • Experience of SiC power module device testing
  • Knowledge of high voltage device test requirements
  • Working knowledge of LabVIEW, Altium and SolidWorks would be advantageous
  • Practical electronics and fault diagnosis skills
