Due to growth within the team, we have a vacancy for a Senior Test Engineer within our Microelectronics business. In this role you will develop and maintain test systems (including hardware and software) and provide day to day production support. As part of the test engineering team you will be involved in improvement projects and introducing new equipment and new products into production. This is a full-time, onsite role, based at our Bedlington facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day support of production, troubleshooting issues with automated test systems.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to improve the current test system.
  • Investigation of test failures.
  • Leading in longer term team projects.
  • Setting up and maintaining the electrical measurement systems.
  • Designing and constructing test hardware.
  • Modifying/generating test code to control instrumentation and performing automated testing.
  • Developing an understanding of the production test machinery.
  • Updating/producing technical documentation such as circuit diagrams, test procedures and operating instructions.
  • Providing training and support to production operators.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Alongside a proven track record in test engineering, within industry, you will:

  • Be degree educated in Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Be proactive, with a hands-on approach.
  • Have the ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Have demonstrated organisational, planning and program skills with careful attention to detail.
  • Be a good Team Player.
  • Have a strong technical bias, with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Have a keen interest in software programming such as: Labview, CVI, Python, VB.
  • Have experience using test instrumentation such as Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators and Digital Multimeters.
  • Have practical electronics and fault diagnosis skills.
