Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Quality Engineer is a dynamic change agent and technical investigator operating within our AS9100 and AS9110 environments. This role is designed for a highly collaborative, digitally savvy professional who connects data, people and technology to drive operational excellence. The primary focus of this role is to manage concurrent cross-functional problem-solving initiatives, build trust-based relationships across departments to transform our operational culture, lead the transition from manual to automated digital workflows and own the First Article Inspection lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Problem Solving & Investigations: Lead multiple concurrent quality investigations across departments, apply structured root cause methodologies (8D, 5WHY, Ishikawa), coordinate rapid containment of quality issues.
- Cultural & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong cross-functional relationships, promote a proactive, data-led quality culture, coach teams away from reactive ‘firefighting’.
- Digital & Process Improvement: Transition manual processes into automated/digital workflows, use data analytics to enable real-time monitoring and predictive quality.
- First Article Inspections (FAIRs): Own and validate FAIRs in line with AS9102 standards.
- Counterfeit Prevention: Knowledge of counterfeit parts prevention, detection and reporting processes, including supply chain risk management, component traceability, certification review and escalation of suspected counterfeit materials IAW AS5553.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Conduct goods-in, in-process and final inspections.
- Support supplier/source inspections.
- Drive risk mitigation using APQP, FMEA and Control Plans.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to reduce waste, variation and cost of poor quality.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Core Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100/9110/9102).
- Skilled in quality tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
- Experience in digital transformation (ERP, PowerBi, FileMaker).
- Proficient in metrology, GD&T, technical drawing and specification interpretation.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Engineering, Quality or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrable experience operating within aerospace manufacturing environments certified AS9100/9100, applying quality management system requirements to support product conformity and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience leading investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Certification:
- Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt).
- IPC Standards knowledge (IPC-A-610 / WHMA-A-620).
- Training in core quality tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
