Pricing Specialist

Pricing Specialist

Full-Time On-site
T

The Commercial Pricing Specialist will own the accurate, timely and commercially sound pricing of every customer quotation and agreed rate across GCS Logistics, TST Group’s Heathrow-based specialist logistics operation.

Following TST Group's acquisition of GCS Logistics, this is an important appointment within our London Commercial team. Pricing is where service, cost and profitability meet - and the right person will make sure every price we issue is competitive, deliverable and protects the margins that allow the business to keep investing and growing.

The role covers both sides of the GCS business: day-to-day groupage pricing for Global Cargo Services, and bespoke two-man and white-glove delivery quotations for Global Complete Solutions, where specialist, high-value and often technically complex deliveries demand real attention to detail.

Working directly with the Group Commercial Director, and closely with Sales, Transport Planning, Operations, Customer Service, Finance and our supplier network, the Commercial Pricing Specialist will be the trusted point of reference for pricing accuracy across the London operation.

Key Responsibilities

Quotations & Day-to-Day Pricing

  • Take ownership of all incoming quotation, rate and tender requests for both GCS businesses, prioritising enquiries and responding within agreed service timescales.
  • Price transport movements accurately by assessing collection and delivery locations, vehicle requirements, timings, access restrictions, handling needs, transit times and service levels.
  • Obtain and validate costs with Transport Planners, hauliers, subcontractors and suppliers to secure the most competitive and commercially viable rates.
  • Ensure every proposed price is commercially sound, with exceptions and amendments authorised in line with company procedures.
  • Keep a clear record of quotations, assumptions, supplier costs, approvals and customer communications.
  • Manage the day-to-day pricing of groupage movements for existing customers using the relevant collection and delivery areas, operational requirements and agreed rates.
  • Prepare, maintain and update customer tariffs, rate cards, contract pricing schedules and customer-specific agreements.
  • Lead the preparation and distribution of updated customer price lists, scheduled price reviews and rate revisions in partnership with Commercial and Sales.

Global Complete Solutions – Two-Man & White-Glove Pricing

  • Prepare bespoke two-man and white-glove quotations that reflect delivery complexity, crew and vehicle requirements, handling, access and service levels.
  • Read and interpret site surveys, drawings and customer instructions, translating them into clear operational requirements and accurate pricing - with full training provided.
  • Work with operational teams and subcontractors to confirm feasibility and costs for specialist, high-value and non-standard deliveries.

Commercial Insight & Growth

  • Work closely with the Group Commercial Director and Sales team to develop competitive pricing strategies that win business while protecting required margins.
  • Support customer tenders, contract renewals and new business opportunities with robust, well-evidenced pricing.
  • Review customer rates regularly so they reflect current market conditions, supplier costs, fuel fluctuations and operational requirements.
  • Monitor supplier rates and cost trends, highlighting significant increases or margin risks to management and recommending action.
  • Produce pricing reports, margin analysis, cost comparisons and management information as required.
  • Maintain accurate, consistent and up-to-date customer prices, supplier costs and tariffs across internal systems, spreadsheets and pricing platforms.
  • Carry out regular checks and audits to identify missing, incorrect, duplicated or outdated pricing and supplier costs.
  • Investigate and resolve pricing discrepancies, cost variances and invoice queries with Sales, Finance and Operations, implementing authorised corrections.
  • Maintain accurate records of pricing agreements, rate changes and commercial approvals for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Build and maintain pricing models, calculators and spreadsheets that make pricing decisions faster and more reliable.

Relationships & Continuous Improvement

  • Respond promptly and professionally to pricing enquiries from customers, suppliers, Transport Planners, Finance and other internal teams.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and colleagues across GCS and the wider TST Group.
  • Identify practical improvements to quotation workflows, record keeping and data accuracy that increase efficiency and reduce commercial risk.
  • Support the Commercial team with ad-hoc pricing projects, customer reviews and contract negotiations.

Key Measures of Success

Accuracy: Quotation and pricing accuracy, rate card maintenance and data accuracy across all systems.

Responsiveness: Quote turnaround times against agreed service levels and responsiveness to customers and internal teams.

Commercial: Margin performance, supplier cost management and support for tenders, renewals and new business.

Control: Timely resolution of pricing discrepancies and compliance with pricing procedures and approval processes.

Customer: Customer satisfaction, professionalism of communication and strength of working relationships.

Experience & Skills

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Several years’ experience in commercial transport pricing, quotations or rates environment.
  • Exposure to groupage and/or two-man or white-glove delivery pricing, which would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to spot discrepancies, identify missing information and calculate accurate costs and prices.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, alongside confident use of Outlook, Word and operational or pricing systems.
  • The ability to interpret customer requirements, site surveys and drawings - or the willingness to learn, with training provided.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accurate records and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues at every level.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a good understanding of how pricing supports business development.

The Person

We are looking for a commercially minded pricing professional who takes real pride in getting the numbers right.

This person needs to be close enough to the operation to understand what each job genuinely involves, and confident enough to question a cost, challenge an assumption or ask a customer for the information that is missing.

They should be equally comfortable working independently and as part of a busy team, balancing speed of response with accuracy, and always thinking about the margin behind the price.

Just as importantly, they will recognise that GCS has built its reputation on specialist, high-value and highly responsive service - and that accurate, competitive pricing is central to protecting and growing that reputation as part of TST Group.

As a member of TST Group’s Commercial team, the Commercial Pricing Specialist will be expected to:

  • Take full ownership of pricing accuracy rather than wait for errors to be found.
  • Put the customer at the centre of every quotation, while balancing service with sustainable commercial performance.
  • Think commercially and understand the margin impact of every price issued.
  • Challenge constructively and raise problems, cost changes and risks early.
  • Build strong relationships across Commercial, Sales, Operations, Finance and the wider TST Group.
  • Follow company policies, pricing procedures and health & safety obligations at all times.
  • Embrace technology, new systems and continuous improvement.
  • Champion a culture of customer care and One TST – The TST Way.
