Job Overview Reporting to the Workshop/Fleet Manager and based at our maintenance facility in Ballymena, the successful applicants will carry out all aspects of planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, inspections, and repairs on our fleet of HGV tractor units and trailers.
The role is key to ensuring all vehicles remain safe, roadworthy, and fully compliant with all legal and company standards.
Key Responsibilities Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers.
Complete scheduled safety inspections and report any defects identified.
Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual testing and inspections.
Attend vehicle breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs where required.
Work efficiently to planned maintenance schedules and operational deadlines.
Complete all relevant job cards, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation accurately.
Respond positively to changing workloads and operational priorities.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
Follow all company Health & Safety policies and safe working procedures.
Report recurring faults, safety concerns, or equipment issues to the Workshop Manager.
Support colleagues and work collaboratively to ensure maximum workshop efficiency.

Essential Criteria Ideally hold an industry-recognised mechanical qualification or have a minimum of two years' experience in a similar HGV mechanic role.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with the ability to identify and complete effective repairs.
Welding experience is desirable.
HGV driving licence preferred but not essential.
Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving ability.
Positive attitude with a strong customer-focused approach.
Good communication and literacy skills.
Flexible approach to working hours in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
