TSSI Recruitment (UK) Ltd are seeking a dedicated KS1 and KS2 TAs and SEN Assistants to work in our expanding list of client schools in the Borough of Southwark. As a teaching assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing essential support to the students, enabling them to access the curriculum and develop essential life skills towards their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with classroom teachers and other support staff to plan and deliver tailored learning activities for students and students with special needs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with a focus on their individual needs and goals.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes the social and emotional development of students.
  • Support students in developing their communication skills, including the use of alternative communication systems.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.
  • Assist in the assessment and tracking of student progress.
  • Promote independence and encourage students to become active participants in their learning.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • A Child & Adult workforce Enhanced DBS on the update service, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, CACHE Level 3, or a related field are preferred.
  • Experience working with children, and those with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Applicants are required to have an Enhanced DBS that must be on the update service or be willing to apply for one through TSSI Recruit. If you are new to the UK or resident under 5 years, you must have a visa that indicates you are eligible to work in the UK and have a police check from your country of origin. Shortlisted candidates may be required to undertake a trial day or more where you will be observed by the head of year. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, health, enhanced DBS checks in accordance with the Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education Legislation.
