Our client requires experienced Logistics Coordinators for a long term project in the Reading area: Role: Logistics Coordinator Industry: Construction Location: Reading Rate: £23-£25 per hour Contract: 18 months Hours 07:15 – 16:45 JD: Role Overview The Site Logistics Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and safe coordination of all site logistics activities across the project lifecycle. Acting as the key point of contact for logistics on-site, you will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and supporting daily operations, ensuring compliance with project standards, health & safety regulations, and stakeholder requirements. Your leadership will set the standard for the logistics team, reinforcing a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Communication - Lead by example, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, punctuality, and site safety. - Set the tone for team performance and behaviour, holding team members to high expectations. - Conduct and participate in daily morning briefings to communicate plans, hazards, and key priorities. - Delegate tasks effectively and ensure team responsibilities are clearly allocated and visible through the Gather system. - Communicate proactively with site supervisors, subcontractors, and internal teams to understand and support project logistics needs. - Foster positive working relationships with key stakeholders to promote company values and long-term success. Operational Excellence - Manage all logistics activities to meet project requirements and timelines. - Oversee the safe delivery, distribution, and storage of materials across site, ensuring they reach the correct areas and individuals. - Ensure all materials are correctly recorded, deducted from stock, and documented accurately in accordance with project controls. - Check all delivery notes for accuracy and submit signed documentation to the office daily. - Ensure plant and calibrated equipment are issued only to authorised supervisors, recorded appropriately, and maintained in good working order. - Update the calibration register and maintain working hyperlinks to current certifications. Safety, Quality & Compliance - Ensure all logistics team members wear required PPE and follow site safety procedures at all times. - Take immediate action to report hazards or unsafe conditions to management. - Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free logistics and storage area at all times. - Ensure COSHH materials are properly stored and documented in line with safety regulations. - Quarantine and report any sub-standard or non-compliant materials or equipment. Initiative & Problem-Solving - Proactively identify logistics challenges and propose innovative, out-of-the-box solutions. - Bring added value to the role through continuous improvement initiatives and resource optimisation. - Support Site Supervisors in forward-planning materials and plant to avoid delays and improve workflow efficiency. - Ensure all site logistics issues are promptly reported and logged for follow-up, especially those that may be cost recoverable or impact productivity. Record Keeping & Reporting - Maintain accurate records of material movements, deliveries, plant issuance, and MEWP documentation. - Provide regular updates and reports to the Logistics Manager, flagging any discrepancies, risks, or opportunities for improvement. - Ensure compliance with all document control procedures and system updates (e.g., Gather, calibration logs).
