TSR Ipswich Ltd is recruiting on behalf of one of our reputable clients in the Ipswich area. We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Class 2 Refuse Driver to join their commercial collections team. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a respected, family-run recycling and waste management company, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

Location: Ipswich, Suffolk

Hours: Monday to Friday - 05:30 – 15:30 (start time is non-negotiable)

Pay: £15.64 per hour

Weekly pay of approximately £742.90 based on 47.5 hours. Overtime paid at £21.75 per hour.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for completing commercial waste and recycling collections across Ipswich, Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Bury St Edmunds, Colchester, and surrounding villages. Customers include bakeries, industrial units, retail outlets, food producers, and business parks. This is a single-handed role with no loading assistant, meaning you will independently manage your route, collections, and vehicle operations throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate an LGV Class 2 refuse collection vehicle
  • Complete commercial waste and recycling collections independently
  • Collect, manoeuvre, and empty wheelie bins of various sizes
  • Navigate restricted access sites, narrow roads, and tight turning areas
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
  • Use tablet devices to record collection and route information
  • Accurately record missed collections, contamination issues, and non-compliance reports
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams
  • Report delays, incidents, defects, and operational concerns to management

Essential Requirements:

  • Full HGV Class 2 (LGV Category C) licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points
  • Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
  • Minimum of 2 years' Class 2 driving experience
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling throughout the working day
  • Confident working independently on a commercial collection route
  • Strong low-speed manoeuvring and vehicle control skills
  • Comfortable using tablets and digital applications
  • Reliable, professional, and safety-focused attitude

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous waste or recycling industry experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams
