TSR Ipswich Ltd is recruiting on behalf of one of our reputable clients based in the Ipswich area. Our client is currently looking for two full-time, permanent Class 1 Tramper Drivers to work from their Ipswich depot, averaging 50–65 hours per week with 2–3 nights out per week. Initially, the roles will involve covering holidays and sickness across both artic and rigid vehicles, with the aim of successful candidates being allocated their own vehicle in the future.
The Role
- UK haulage work, primarily curtain-sided trailers
- Occasional container shunting work (port cards and container experience preferred)
- Working across both Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles
- Regular interaction with customers, warehouse staff, and office personnel
Due to the nature of the role, drivers must have a good command of spoken and written English to ensure effective communication.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum age of 25 years (insurance purposes)
- Minimum of 2 years' driving experience
- Previous tramping experience
- Willingness to drive both Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles
- Container and port experience advantageous
- Professional, reliable, and customer-focused attitude
Pay Package
Based on an average 65-hour working week with 2–3 nights out, the package includes:
- Basic wage
- Overtime (approximately 15 hours)
- Night-out allowance
- Meal allowance
- Weekly bonus
