TSR Legal is seeking a dedicated and professional Private Client Legal Assistant to join a highly regarded legal team in Bath. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a respected Legal 500-recognised practice supporting individuals and families with sensitive and rewarding work in wills, probate, estate administration and related private client matters.

About the Role

You will support fee-earners in delivering high-quality legal services across a varied private client caseload. Your work will help clients navigate important and often emotional life events with clarity, compassion and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and drafting of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and other private client documents.
  • Assist with probate applications and the administration of estates for deceased clients, including preparing necessary forms and liaising with the Probate Registry.
  • Collate and organise financial information and estate documentation, including assisting with inheritance tax matters.
  • Manage aspects of client communications – by telephone, email and in person – with executors, beneficiaries and third parties.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files using legal case management systems.
  • Draft client correspondence, prepare client care letters and terms of business.
  • Liaise professionally with external organisations (banks, HMRC, insurers, etc.) as part of estate administration.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, best practice and compliance standards.

About You

We’re looking for an enthusiastic professional with:

  • Previous experience in private client work, ideally including wills, probate, estate administration and/or lasting powers of attorney.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple files.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused and empathetic approach.
  • Confidence in dealing directly with clients and third parties in a sensitive and professional manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management systems.

Desirable: Legal qualification or study towards a relevant qualification (e.g., CILEx, law degree) is advantageous but not essential.
