TSR Legal is working with a leading Legal 500 law firm with a strong international client base. This firm is known for the quality of its private wealth work and offers an outstanding working environment in a flagship London office.
The firm is now seeking an ambitious and motivated Legal Director or Partner to join its highly regarded Private Wealth team, with a particular focus on international tax, trusts and cross border wealth planning. This is a senior opportunity for an individual looking to play a key role in the continued growth of an established and respected practice, working with high net worth and ultra high net worth clients both in the UK and overseas.
The Role
You will advise wealthy private clients, trustees and beneficiaries on a broad range of complex international private client matters, including:
- Residence and domicile issues and tax planning for non resident and non domiciled individuals
- International tax treaties and the taxation of income, capital gains and inheritances
- UK legal and tax issues affecting overseas trusts
- Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax advice, including mitigation strategies
- Trust law matters, including the preparation of trustee resolutions and deeds of appointment
- Advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries and liaising with other professional advisers
You will also play a visible role in networking and profile raising within the firm and the wider market, as well as mentoring and supporting junior members of the team. Client care is central to this role, dealing with sports, media entertainment and elderly clients, and you will be expected to deliver a thoughtful, compassionate and highly professional service at all times.
About You
You will be a qualified solicitor with substantial experience in private client work, with particular strength in tax and trusts. Candidates are likely to have gained experience within a leading law firm, accountancy firm or specialist private client practice.
You will demonstrate:
- At least 10 years PQE with a strong caseload in tax and trusts matters
- Deep technical knowledge of UK and offshore trust taxation
- Experience of complex trust accounting, including landed estates and charitable trusts
- Strong expertise in Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax planning
- Excellent client handling and relationship management skills
- The ability and enthusiasm to contribute to business development and team leadership
