The Opportunity
TSR Legal is pleased to be working with a well-established law firm with a strong national reputation for delivering high-quality legal services to both businesses and private clients. The firm is currently seeking a Paralegal / Lawyer to join its Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to support a busy department while gaining further exposure to clinical negligence casework within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support to three fee earners, assisting with the progression of clinical negligence matters while also undertaking key departmental administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day support to fee earners in progressing clinical negligence and personal injury matters
- Draft routine correspondence and assist in preparing legal documents
- Communicate with clients, medical experts, courts, and other third parties under supervision
- Organise and maintain client files, ensuring documents are correctly filed and up to date
- Assist with progressing cases under supervision, including liaising with medical experts and courts
- Monitor key dates and deadlines, ensuring timely reminders and follow‑ups
- Conduct basic legal research where required
- Assist with case preparation and drafting routine documentation
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and professional standards
Administrative Duties
- Open, scan, and distribute incoming departmental post
- Prepare and send outgoing post
- Accurately scan, upload, and manage medical records (including hard copy and CD formats)
- Maintain organised digital and physical filing systems
- Provide general administrative support including photocopying, data entry, and other ad hoc tasks
Compliance and Professional Standards
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Clinical Negligence law and procedures
- Support colleagues during periods of absence where required
- Follow best practices to minimise professional negligence risk
- Work towards agreed productivity and performance targets
- Provide a professional and responsive service to clients at all times
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience working within Clinical Negligence or Personal Injury
- Experience supporting fee earners with case progression
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Experience handling and organising medical records
Desirable
- Experience within a legal or professional services environment
- Knowledge of case management systems and Microsoft Office
- Understanding of legal procedures and case progression
