TSR Legal is delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm that is looking to recruit a Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant to join its busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with legal accounts experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, professional environment and is looking to further their career within a supportive and collaborative firm.
The Role
As a Legal Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the firm’s finance function, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules while delivering an efficient and accurate accounts service. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the business, handling financial transactions, maintaining client and office accounts, and providing excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing client and office account transactions in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Managing client ledgers, disbursements, and financial records.
- Handling cash, cheque, and electronic payments accurately.
- Assisting with reconciliations and day-to-day legal accounting duties.
- Liaising with clients, fee earners, and third parties by telephone, email, and in person.
- Producing correspondence, reports, and financial documentation.
- Maintaining accurate records using legal accounts and case management systems.
- Supporting the wider finance team with administrative and compliance tasks as required.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- At least one year’s experience working within a legal accounts or legal finance environment.
- A sound understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Experience using legal accounting software and case management systems.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
- A professional and approachable manner when dealing with colleagues, clients, and external contacts.
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Experience working with client ledgers, office accounts, and disbursements, together with exposure to high-value or corporate clients, would be advantageous but is not essential.
