An opportunity has arisen at an established Cardiff firm for an experienced Private Client Solicitor to take on the role of Head of Department, leading the firm’s Private Client team in South Wales. This position would suit a senior lawyer with strong technical expertise who is comfortable taking responsibility for both the performance and direction of a department, while continuing to maintain a high quality caseload. The firm has a collaborative and approachable culture, with an emphasis on building long term client relationships and maintaining a strong connection to the local community. The Person
- Private Client Solicitor with a minimum of 7 years’ PQE
- Strong technical knowledge and sound commercial awareness
- Experience of leading or supervising a team
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and case management systems
- A practical and team-focused approach
- Experience in business development and maintaining client relationships
- Membership of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners would be advantageous

Main Responsibilities and Activities
- Managing a caseload of high value and complex wills, trusts and probate matters in line with professional standards
- Providing leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Private Client team
- Supporting and developing team members, including supervision and mentoring
- Delegating work effectively, taking into account experience levels and risk
- Contributing to the strategic development of the department, including maintaining and building relationships with clients and referrers
- Working with colleagues to review and improve internal processes where appropriate
- Supporting collaboration with other departments to ensure a consistent and high standard of client service
- Taking responsibility for ongoing professional development
