Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Legal Assistant or Lawyer to join its established Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury team based on the outskirts of Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious legal professional to develop their career within a recognised specialist team, supporting complex and high-value clinical negligence claims while working alongside experienced practitioners in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The Opportunity
You will play a key role in supporting three experienced fee earners with a varied caseload of clinical negligence and personal injury matters. The position offers hands-on exposure to case progression, client care, medical evidence, and litigation processes, making it ideal for candidates looking to further develop their expertise within this specialist area.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support to fee earners handling clinical negligence and personal injury claims.
- Assist with progressing matters from inception through to conclusion.
- Draft routine correspondence, legal documents, witness statements, and court forms.
- Liaise with clients, medical experts, barristers, courts, and other third parties.
- Assist in obtaining, reviewing, and organising medical records and expert evidence.
- Monitor case deadlines, limitation dates, and key milestones.
- Undertake legal research and prepare case summaries where required.
- Ensure all client files are maintained accurately and in accordance with firm procedures.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage incoming and outgoing departmental post.
- Scan, upload, and organise medical records and case documentation.
- Maintain efficient electronic and physical filing systems.
- Support fee earners with document production, file management, and general administration.
- Assist with preparation for meetings, conferences, and court hearings.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Adhere to all regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Follow departmental procedures and best practice guidelines.
- Assist with maintaining high standards of client care and service delivery.
- Support colleagues and contribute positively to team objectives.
About You
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within Clinical Negligence and/or Personal Injury.
- Experience supporting fee earners with case progression.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience managing and reviewing medical records.
- Excellent communication and client care skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines effectively.
Desirable
- Legal Assistant, Paralegal, Legal Executive, or Qualified Solicitor background.
- Experience within a Legal 500 or specialist claimant practice.
- Familiarity with case management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of litigation procedures and clinical negligence claims processes.
