A long-established, multi-office law firm with a strong presence in the South West is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Head of Property to lead their thriving Property department based in Bristol. This is a senior-level opportunity for a qualified solicitor with significant experience in residential and/or commercial property law, who is ready to take ownership of departmental leadership and strategic growth.
The Opportunity
This is a pivotal leadership role within a well-regarded legal practice. You will be heading up an experienced Property team, managing operations, driving performance, and overseeing a varied caseload with an emphasis on quality and compliance. The firm is known for its collaborative culture and strong client relationships, making this an ideal environment for a leader looking to make a long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities

Leading the Property team in the Bristol office, with overall responsibility for team management, mentoring, and performance.

Overseeing a broad range of property matters – primarily residential, with some commercial – ensuring service delivery is of the highest standard.

Developing and nurturing strong client and referral relationships to expand the department’s presence and market share.

Driving the department’s strategic growth through business development initiatives and networking.

Managing financial performance, including departmental budgets and resource allocation.

Supporting junior fee earners and fostering a culture of continuous development and operational excellence.

Staying abreast of changes in legislation and best practices in property law.
About You

Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with significant post-qualification experience in property law – residential experience essential; commercial experience advantageous.

Proven track record in managing and developing legal teams.

A confident leader with a commercially minded and client-focused approach.

Strong business development instincts and an ability to leverage professional networks.

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.

Proficient with modern legal technology and case management systems.
