TSR Legal are proud to be working in partnership with a progressive firm to appoint a Legal Director to lead its residential conveyancing function. This is a senior appointment offering the opportunity to shape technical excellence, influence strategic direction, and play a key role in the continued growth of a modern and forward-thinking practice. The firm has built a strong reputation for delivering specialist legal advice with a clear focus on client service, quality, and innovation. The role

This is a pivotal leadership position suited to an experienced residential conveyancing solicitor looking to step into a strategic and influential role. You will act as the senior technical authority across the conveyancing team, ensuring legal work is accurate, compliant, and commercially robust. You will lead and develop a team of qualified and aspiring lawyers, embedding a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, and structured development. The role will also involve shaping technical training frameworks and supporting clear career progression pathways across the team. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will contribute to business growth, support the expansion of conveyancing services, and collaborate on process and system improvements to enhance both operational delivery and client experience. You will also represent the firm externally, strengthening its standing within the wider legal sector.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across all residential conveyancing matters
  • Oversee quality assurance and compliance in line with regulatory standards
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing legal team
  • Drive continuous improvement through training and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to strategic planning and business growth initiatives
  • Support innovation in systems, processes, and client delivery
  • Act as an ambassador for the firm within the industry

Experience required

  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in residential conveyancing
  • Strong technical expertise across sales, purchases, remortgages, and leasehold matters
  • Experience handling complex transactions including unregistered property
  • Sound knowledge of SDLT requirements, reliefs, and exemptions
  • Proven leadership and team development experience
  • Experience contributing at a senior or strategic level would be advantageous
