TSR Legal are delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm with multiple offices across Wiltshire and Somerset, to appoint a Risk and Compliance Manager. This is a newly created role, reflecting the firm’s continued growth and commitment to best practice, governance, and regulatory excellence.
The Role
The Risk and Compliance Manager will play a key role in safeguarding the firm by identifying, assessing, and managing legal, regulatory, and operational risks. You will ensure the firm operates in full compliance with all relevant regulations, professional standards, and internal policies, while supporting partners and staff with practical, commercial advice. This is a senior and influential position, offering the opportunity to shape and strengthen the firm’s risk and compliance framework across multiple offices and departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the firm’s risk and compliance framework
- Ensure compliance with SRA regulations, AML requirements, GDPR, and internal policies
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the business
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures
- Advise partners and senior management on compliance and risk matters
- Manage audits, regulatory reviews, and internal investigations where required
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on risk, compliance, and best practice
- Act as a key point of contact for regulatory bodies and external advisors
Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Risk and Compliance Manager role (or similar) within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong working knowledge of SRA regulations, AML, GDPR, and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Experience developing and embedding policies and procedures
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at senior level
- Strong attention to detail with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
