TSR Legal is delighted to be working with a highly regarded, award-winning law firm that is looking to appoint a skilled Legal Support Manager to lead the support function within its Employment & Immigration team based in Cheltenham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal support professional with supervisory experience to join a collaborative and successful team, playing a key role in ensuring exceptional operational and administrative support is delivered to fee earners.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Head of Department, you will oversee the day‑to‑day management of the legal support team, ensuring workflows are coordinated efficiently and administrative processes run seamlessly. You’ll also be responsible for developing team members, maintaining compliance standards, supporting billing processes and driving operational excellence across the department. The Employment & Immigration team advises a diverse client base including national and international businesses, senior executives and organisations on a broad range of employment law matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the legal support team.
  • Oversee holidays, absences, appraisals, coaching and performance management.
  • Recruit, onboard and develop new legal support staff.
  • Coordinate workloads and allocate administrative support across the team.
  • Manage legal files, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for business support queries.
  • Oversee monthly billing and fee estimation processes.
  • Draft, amend and format legal documentation, correspondence and reports.
  • Support document management initiatives and file compliance projects.
  • Work closely with Partners and senior lawyers to ensure efficient team operations.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous experience within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Experience supervising or managing legal support staff.
  • Strong legal administration and organisational skills.
  • Experience using case management and document management systems (such as SOS and iManage or similar).
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • A full driving licence or willingness to travel between offices where required.
