This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive environment where you'll be trusted to manage your own caseload while developing your technical expertise. Candidates with experience from both legal and non-legal claims backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The team provides an outsourced managed claims service to leading professional indemnity insurers, handling claims made against professionals under delegated authority. You will manage claims from first notification through to resolution, working closely with colleagues and insurer clients to deliver an efficient, commercially focused service. Based in Bristol, this hybrid role offers flexibility alongside the opportunity to be part of an established and expanding claims function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage your own caseload of pre-litigated professional indemnity claims from initial notification through to resolution.
  • Review and investigate policy coverage and identify any potential issues requiring escalation.
  • Assist insured professionals in responding appropriately to complaints and claims.
  • Investigate matters thoroughly, considering the merits and value of claims at an early stage.
  • Negotiate settlements within delegated authority levels, balancing commerciality with fairness.
  • Proactively manage claims to avoid unnecessary litigation and achieve effective outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with insurer service level agreements (SLAs), KPIs and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records using the electronic case management system.
  • Support monthly and ad hoc reporting requirements for insurer clients.
  • Implement reserving practices and contribute to effective cost control.
  • Identify emerging trends and escalating risks, reporting these appropriately to senior stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, insurers, intermediaries and suppliers.
  • Take ownership of your professional development and remain up to date with market developments and best practice.
About You

We would be keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • Previous claims handling experience gained within insurance, legal services, financial services or a related environment.
  • Experience managing claims or complaints from inception through to resolution.
  • Strong technical understanding of claims processes, or the ability to develop this quickly.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, commercial and client-focused approach.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative mindset and a desire to contribute positively to team culture.

Candidates from non-legal claims backgrounds are very much encouraged to apply, provided they can demonstrate transferable claims handling experience and a commitment to delivering excellent client service.

What's on Offer?
  • Hybrid working based in Bristol.
  • Salary of up to £35,000 depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Ongoing training and career development opportunities.
  • Exposure to high-quality professional indemnity work.
  • A supportive, inclusive and collaborative working culture.
  • The opportunity to build a long-term career within a respected and growing organisation.
