TSR Legal are delighted to be working with a well-established, forward-thinking law firm in Birmingham that is looking to strengthen its Employment team with the appointment of an Employment Law Paralegal. This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal who is ready to take ownership of their work and manage their own caseload, working closely with the wider team while having the autonomy to progress matters from instruction through to conclusion.
The firm works with both employers and employees, providing advice across a broad range of employment matters including disputes, settlement agreements, unfair and constructive dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, employment contracts, grievances and Tribunal matters.
The Role
- Managing your own caseload of employment matters from initial instruction through to conclusion
- Taking instructions from clients and developing a clear understanding of their circumstances and objectives
- Assisting with and progressing Employment Tribunal claims
- Preparing correspondence, statements, pleadings and other legal documentation
- Assisting with settlement agreements and negotiations
- Supporting matters involving unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, grievances and contractual disputes
- Carrying out legal research and providing support with case preparation
- Liaising directly with clients, opposing parties, ACAS, Tribunals and other relevant third parties
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring deadlines are met
- Providing regular updates to clients and ensuring a high level of client care
- Working closely with solicitors and colleagues while taking responsibility for the day-to-day progression of your own files
About You
We are looking for someone with a solid background in employment law who is confident managing their own workload and progressing matters with minimal supervision. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working within an employment law team
- The ability to manage your own caseload effectively
- Strong knowledge of employment law and relevant procedures
- Experience dealing with employment disputes and/or Tribunal matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- A confident and professional approach when dealing with clients
- The ability to prioritise competing deadlines and work independently
- A genuine interest in developing your career within employment law
