About the Role
A well‑regarded and growing law firm with a strong regional and national presence is seeking a Private Client Solicitor to join its established Wills and Probate team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with 2+ years’ PQE to step into a varied and high‑quality private client role, working closely with senior leadership while maintaining autonomy over their own caseload.
The position can be based in either the Bristol or Gloucester office and offers flexibility around full‑time or part‑time working.
You will play a key role in delivering first‑class private client services while contributing to the continued development of the department.
Responsibilities
- Managing a broad private client caseload from instruction through to completion.
- Advising on wills, probate, estate administration, trusts, LPAs, Court of Protection and related tax matters.
- Acting as a key point of contact for private client enquiries, including internally referred work from other departments.
- Handling matters efficiently while working to agreed billing targets.
- Liaising closely with support staff to ensure smooth file progression and excellent client service.
- Supporting senior colleagues on complex or high‑value matters as required.
- Maintaining accurate electronic and paper‑based records in line with regulatory requirements.
- Participating in business development and marketing initiatives to enhance the department’s profile.
- Demonstrating strong professional standards, organisation, and risk awareness at all times.
Qualifications
- Be a qualified Solicitor or FCILEx with a minimum of 2 years’ PQE in Private Client law.
- Have proven experience managing your own Wills and Probate caseload in a busy environment.
- Ideally hold, or be working towards, STEP qualification.
- Be highly organised, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Demonstrate excellent client care, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Have a genuine interest in business development and raising your professional profile.
- Be comfortable working across offices when required and engaging with colleagues firm‑wide.
- Be eligible to work in the UK and able to satisfy DBS requirements.
