An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Senior Associate Planning Solicitor to join a leading national law firm with a strong reputation across the UK for delivering exceptional legal advice on some of the country’s most significant development and infrastructure projects.

Our client’s highly regarded Planning & Environment team is continuing to grow in Cardiff and is looking to appoint a talented planning lawyer who is eager to play a visible and influential role within a thriving national practice. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside recognised experts in the field, advising major public and private sector clients on complex, high-profile matters that help shape the future of Wales and the wider UK.

The Role:

  • Work on a broad range of high-quality planning matters, including:
    • Major infrastructure and regeneration schemes
    • Residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
    • Compulsory purchase and compensation matters
    • Section 106 agreements and highways matters
    • Development Consent Orders (DCOs)
    • Planning enforcement, appeals, and judicial review work

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead on significant projects, develop strong client relationships, support junior lawyers within the team, and contribute to the continued strategic growth of the Cardiff practice.

About You

  • A qualified solicitor in England & Wales with typically 6+ years' PQE in planning law
  • Technically strong with experience handling complex and high-value matters
  • Confident managing your own caseload and leading client relationships
  • Commercially aware with excellent communication and drafting skills
  • Interested in mentoring junior lawyers and supporting team development
  • Experienced in Welsh planning law and devolved legislative regimes (highly desirable)
