TSR Legal has recently been instructed to assist a well-established multi-office law firm as they look to recruit an experienced Head of Family to lead and develop their Family department across their Monmouth and Coleford offices.
This is a senior appointment within the firm and an excellent opportunity for an experienced Family Solicitor who is looking to combine a quality caseload with genuine departmental leadership and strategic responsibility. The successful candidate will report directly to the Board of Directors and take responsibility for the wider Family team, including fee earners, legal assistants and support staff.
Our client is looking for an experienced family lawyer with a minimum of five years' post-qualification experience and a strong technical background across a broad range of privately funded family matters. You will be responsible for leading and developing the department while maintaining excellent standards of client care, supporting the development of the existing team and helping drive future growth.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will continue to manage a varied Family Law caseload including:
- divorce and separation
- financial remedy proceedings
- private children matters
- cohabitation disputes
- domestic abuse injunctions
- pre- and post-nuptial agreements
You will provide practical and commercially focused advice to clients and undertake advocacy, Court work and mediation where appropriate.
As Head of Family, you will play an active role in supervising and mentoring lawyers across the department, managing workloads and resources, supporting recruitment and training and identifying opportunities for career development and succession planning within the team.
The role will also involve responsibility for the commercial performance of the department, including monitoring billing, WIP, recovery and profitability, as well as contributing to budgeting and departmental planning. The successful candidate will be expected to develop relationships with referrers and professional contacts, identify opportunities for new business and cross-referrals and represent the department through networking, seminars and wider marketing activity.
You will also have responsibility for ensuring the department operates in accordance with the firm's regulatory and quality requirements, including SRA Standards and Regulations, Lexcel requirements and Legal Aid Agency requirements where applicable. Previous experience of departmental management, supervision and risk management would therefore be particularly advantageous.
The firm is looking for a qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or equivalent lawyer with at least five years' PQE and demonstrable experience managing a broad Family Law caseload. Family Law Panel Accreditation would be advantageous but is not essential.
This is a firm-wide leadership position and the successful candidate will need to be comfortable travelling between offices when required for client meetings, team management, networking and training.
This represents an excellent opportunity for a Senior Family Solicitor, Associate, Senior Associate or existing Head of Department looking to take ownership of an established team and play a key role in shaping the continued growth of a well-regarded regional practice.
The salary for the position is up to £60,000 depending on experience.
