TSR Legal are delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm in Wiltshire who are looking to strengthen their accounts team with the appointment of an Accounts Assistant or Accounts Administrator. The firm is open to considering candidates at different levels, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within legal accounts, as well as someone who already has a strong understanding of legal finance and client accounts.
The Role
Working as part of a supportive and busy accounts team, you will provide financial and administrative support across the firm and work closely with colleagues across a range of departments. Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the firm's accounts function
- Processing financial transactions accurately and efficiently
- Managing and recording client account transactions
- Maintaining accurate client ledgers
- Assisting with online banking and payment processing
- Processing invoices and financial information
- Dealing with client payments, including card, cheque and cash transactions
- Supporting payment runs
- Assisting with conveyancing completions and related financial transactions
- Posting disbursements, costs, fees and monies received or paid
- Assisting with month-end processes and reporting
- Responding to accounts and finance queries from colleagues and clients
- Ensuring financial information is accurately recorded and processed within required timescales
- Providing wider administrative support to the accounts team where required
For the Accounts Administrator position, there will be greater responsibility across client transactions, banking, client ledgers, conveyancing completions and month-end reporting.
About You
The firm is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds and will consider applications for either position depending on your existing knowledge and level of responsibility. You may be:
- Working within a legal accounts, legal cashiering or finance environment

You will ideally have:
- Good numerical ability and strong attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel
- A professional and approachable manner
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team
Previous experience within a law firm or legal accounts environment would be advantageous. Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules, client monies, legal accounting systems, bookkeeping or conveyancing transactions would also be beneficial, although training and development can be considered for the right candidate.
