TSR Legal is working with a well-established, multi-office Legal 500 law firm that is continuing to grow its Family & Childcare team in Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Legal Secretary or experienced legal support professional who has an interest in Family and Childcare law and is looking to join a supportive and expanding team.

You will work closely with fee earners, providing high-quality secretarial and administrative support while developing your knowledge and experience within a busy legal environment.

The Role

  • As Family & Childcare Legal Secretary, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to fee earners within the Family & Childcare team
  • Preparing correspondence and documents using digital dictation
  • Audio typing and general document production
  • Electronic filing and maintaining accurate client and matter records
  • Managing incoming and outgoing telephone calls with clients, Counsel, experts and other third parties
  • Managing diaries and arranging appointments and meetings
  • Welcoming and assisting clients and visitors where required
  • Assisting with CCMS and Legal Aid applications
  • Processing fee notes and assisting with matters relating to experts’ invoices
  • Monitoring deadlines and ensuring relevant actions are completed
  • Working in accordance with internal procedures and compliance requirements
  • Providing general administrative support to the wider team as required

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Legal Secretary or within a legal support role.

Experience or an interest in Family & Childcare law would be particularly advantageous, although candidates with strong transferable legal secretarial experience will also be considered.

You will ideally have

  • Previous legal secretarial or legal support experience
  • An interest in Family and Childcare law
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Fast and accurate typing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
  • A professional and confident approach when dealing with clients and third parties
  • Good IT skills and confidence using modern systems
