Design is undertaken in-house and through our approved network of external design houses, therefore providing our clients with an integrated design and detailing service ensuring single source responsibility for the design and supply of the façade. Working for our clients we have established a strong reputation for first-class service and reliability. You will be someone who takes ownership for your work and is able to represent the company's interests in a tactically appropriate way. The successful candidate will have good communication skills as this role will involve extensive communication with internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work on a total design solution specific to each project, ensuring compliance to client’s recommendations/requirements and company procedures.
  • Responsible for tasks relating to the project, instructed, and reporting to the Head of Design/Technical.
  • Managing a design team.
  • Managing the design process using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise.
  • Managing external sub-contractors relevant to design (e.g., 3D scans, structural engineers, thermal engineers, acoustic engineers).
  • Driving the project design forward and presenting potential solutions to issues that arise.
  • Setting up and chairing meetings.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Preparation and monitoring of design programmes and monitoring deliverables.
  • Sketching and proposing technical solutions.
  • Supporting, understanding, and advising the client regarding the requirements and obligations in the development of a building design.
  • Encouraging and inspiring designers to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources, and talents in a cost-effective way.
  • Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards, and codes of practice, where appropriate.
  • Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales.
  • Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction.
  • Checking take-offs prior to ordering.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of façade design, CWCT, Building Regulations and other legislation.
  • A creative dynamic individual who is both adaptive and proactive to tackle design challenges as they arise.
  • Experience with the following: Cavity Barriers, Curtain Walling, Cladding, Flashings and Bracketry, Windows and Doors, AOV’s and Louvres.

Experience and education:

  • 10 years of facades experience.
  • A degree, HND or equivalent, ideally in a design or construction related subject.
  • High standards of numeracy, oral and written communication skills.
  • Capability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively and on own initiative.
  • Membership to a professional body is desirable but not essential.
