OVERVIEW

The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of TSL's IT infrastructure across cloud, server and network environments.

The role combines Azure cloud administration with traditional infrastructure engineering, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable systems across all company locations.

The role will manage Microsoft Azure services, Microsoft 365 technologies, networking infrastructure, wireless platforms, and cloud security.

The role requires a hands-on engineer capable of supporting business growth through infrastructure modernisation, network optimisation, automation, and security improvements.

This position works closely with internal stakeholders and third-party partners to deliver robust infrastructure services while maintaining high levels of availability, performance, and security across the organisation.

This includes troubleshooting and resolving issues related to infrastructure tools such as Azure Services including Power Shell, Rapid7, Veeam & Ubiquity.

Note: This is an office-based role with travel to site offices across the UK or international as required from time to time.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, maintain and support Microsoft Azure infrastructure and associated cloud services.
  • Manage Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), VPNs, storage accounts, virtual machines, backup solutions, and cloud security controls.
  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID, identity management, authentication services, and hybrid cloud integrations.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and capacity across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
  • Support infrastructure projects and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Network Infrastructure
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN connectivity across all locations.
  • Deploy, maintain, and support Uni Fi switching, wireless, and network management platforms.
  • Configure and manage Uni Fi access points, wireless networks, guest portals, VLANs, and wireless security policies.
  • Implement and maintain network segmentation, routing, switching, and wireless optimisation.
  • Support office fit-outs and construction site deployments including network installations and connectivity solutions.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively address availability and capacity issues.
  • Manage structured cabling requirements and liaise with network providers and installation partners.
  • Security & Compliance
  • Manage firewall policies, VPN connectivity, network security rules, and perimeter security solutions.
  • Support vulnerability management through tools such as Rapid7 and remediation activities.
  • Administer server endpoint protection and security monitoring solutions.
  • Assist with cybersecurity audits, compliance requirements, and security best practices.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery
  • Manage backup and recovery platforms including Veeam and Microsoft 365 backup solutions.
  • Perform regular disaster recovery testing and validation exercises.
  • Ensure backup, retention, and recovery processes meet business continuity requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Power Shell automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.
  • Standardise and automate infrastructure deployment and configuration processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure performance, reliability, and security.
  • General IT Support
  • Act as a senior escalation point for infrastructure and network-related incidents.
  • Provide technical guidance to IT colleagues and end users.
  • Support onboarding, training, and adoption of infrastructure technologies.
  • Participate in infrastructure change management processes and project delivery.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with IT service management tools and ticketing systems.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge Base Documentation.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Network Engineer role.
  • Proven experience supporting hybrid cloud environments and Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and managing Uni Fi switching and wireless infrastructure.

  • Experience managing firewalls and network security solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management.
  • Power Shell scripting and automation experience.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and knowledge base articles.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience with Azure Landing Zones.
  • Experience with Azure Virtual WAN and Site-to-Site VPNs.
  • Experience with Uni Fi Network Controller administration.
  • Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies.
  • Experience in multi-site organisations.
  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certification.
