Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Azure Cloud Engineer will be to maintain and develop TSL’s cloud infrastructure and associated systems. The role is responsible for optimising infrastructure, enhancing operational performance, and ensuring reliability. This role provides a perfect balance between operational duties and engaging project work, designing and implementing automated tools and frameworks for continuous integration.
The Azure Cloud Engineer is responsible for monitoring and managing the TSL infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. This includes troubleshooting and resolving issues related to infrastructure tools such as Azure Services including InTune, PowerShell, PatchMyPC, Rapid7, Veeam & Ubiquity. Note: This is an office-based role with travel to site offices across the UK required from time to time.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establishing and overseeing cloud infrastructure and services, including Microsoft Azure, to optimise performance and efficiency.
- Monitoring TSL’s system performance and troubleshooting issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Optimise and manage cloud infrastructure by provisioning and configuring virtual machines, containers, and storage solutions.
- Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to streamline processes and improve efficiency in the operational infrastructure team.
- Creating documentation for processes and procedures to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Actively involved in building cloud security infrastructure in close collaboration with the TSL IT team.
- Working with technical leads and partners to implement solutions and modernise our methods of operation.
- Raising Change Requests and creating knowledge base articles.
- Effectively implement and maintain Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) to enhance identity management and strengthen access control.
- Develop design solutions for secure collaboration utilising Microsoft 365 services, including Teams and SharePoint.
- Streamline workflows and infrastructure management by utilising PowerShell, Azure CLI, and the Graph API.
Disaster Recovery
- Ensure IT disaster recovery is aligned to business continuity plans.
- Implement and manage disaster recovery of key TSL platforms as well as regularly test restoration.
- Implement and manage Conditional Access, Infrastructure Endpoint Protection, and compliance standards.
- Make sure to follow Zero Trust principles by implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA) and verifying device health.
- Set up and manage cloud based advanced threat protection.
Network Infrastructure
- Manage and maintain WAN / LAN infrastructure technology.
- Manage and maintain Firewall rules and security.
- Manage and maintain Wireless access solutions.
General IT Support
- Collaborate with other IT team members to implement and improve IT policies and procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on IT best practices and security protocols.
- Provide support for companywide IT compliance certification.
Adaptability and initiative
- Changing and improving.

Skills and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience in designing and deploying hybrid and cloud-native infrastructure solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Azure Entra ID, including hybrid identity configurations such as Azure Connect Sync.
- Auto Pilot and Conditional Access Policies.
- Active Directory and Group Policy.
- File servers and network shares.
- PowerShell, Azure CLI, and scripting for automation.
- Azure VPN, DHCP, DNS, and networking (Ubiquity).
- Vulnerability Management Tools (Rapid7).
