About the opportunity: You will support the technical development of TSG's solar (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects throughout the complete project lifecycle, delivering high-quality, optimised designs that meet client, regulatory, and commercial requirements.
Additionally, you'll provide in-house technical assurance across solar and BESS schemes within the TSG pipeline, working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure efficient, compliant and buildable project designs
What you’ll do
- Produce detailed PV and BESS system designs, including layouts, electrical schematics and equipment specifications.
- Support feasibility studies, site assessments, and early-stage project evaluations for new opportunities.
- Develop and review yield assessments, system performance models, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with commercial, project management, and delivery teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
- Provide technical input into tender submissions and client proposals.
- Review and validate third‑party designs to ensure compliance with TSG standards and industry best practice.
- Ensure all designs meet relevant UK standards, grid requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and other stakeholders as required.
- Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities during the design phase and propose solutions.
- Support project handover from pre-construction to delivery teams, ensuring technical clarity and continuity.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of solar and BESS technologies, standards, and market developments.
About you, skills and attributes
- Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems and/or BESS design principles.
- Experience producing detailed electrical and layout designs (e. g. single line diagrams, cable sizing, system layouts).
- Understanding of UK grid connection processes and electrical standards.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and data.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving capability.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
(Desirable)
- Experience in commercial/utility‑scale solar or BESS projects.
- Familiarity with design and simulation software (e. g. PVsyst, PVsol, Revit, Auto CAD or similar).
- Knowledge of battery technologies and energy storage integration.
- Experience engaging with DNO applications and grid connection processes.
- Awareness of planning and environmental considerations for renewable energy projects.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

- Office Attendance: 3-4 days per week (flexible around operational and business needs)
