About the role: Our specialist inhouse design team operate within our New Energies business line and provide design capability from feasibility through to construction for the installation of both HV and LV networks across the UK. As CAD Technician, you will be responsible for producing design drawings to support our portfolio of projects, from indicative layouts to concept and detailed designs as well as supporting project close out with \”as built\” drawings. (Our projects typically focus on EV, EBus and ETruck installations, as well as HV and LV connections on behalf of our ICP business). This is a permanent, staff position open to applicants based in or around the Hamilton (Glasgow) area, although we are also happy to consider UK wide applications for the right candidate on a remote, WFH basis. (Office locations offer flexible hybrid working pattern). What you’ll do: Drive design development in the production of the drawing packs based on specifications provided by the client or design team Support Sales and Estimation in the creation of indicative and concept design drawings Take ownership of their drawing process as required to deliver projects Produce required CAD drawings, to include the electrical, mechanical and civils layout within the drawing pack ensuring compliance to the safety and client’s requirements Ensure designs are compliant with UK Electrical installation regulations Maintain good communication with internal teams as well as involvement with group EV and Power (ICP) activities/opportunities, liaising across the business to better understand the projects Create and maintain an accurate drawing register for each project, archiving the projects on completion Liaise with engineers to resolve clashes or suggest practical changes. When required, obtain the red line or aslaid drawings from site update and reissue to the client and site When required, perform onsite surveys/visits and document changes Manage simultaneous drawing packs for designs Look at innovative solutions and lessons learnt to drive design improvements, improving design efficiency and constructability Ensure that Health Safety and Welfare of all staff is accounted for through the management and mitigation of risks through design About you: You will have a detailed understanding of drawing processes and are used to completing a design from start to sign off, this could include electrical, mechanical and civil elements within the drawing package. We believe the following competencies and attributes will set you up for success in this role: Experience within utilities industry is highly favourable Strong CAD package experience, minimum AutoCAD 2D Ability to interpret engineering specs, site surveys, and technical data and translate into clear design outputs Demonstrable knowledge of drawing standards Keen focus on Health and Safety Highly organised, with excellent written and verbal communication skills Assertive and proactive, able to make decisions quickly! IT proficient essentially Microsoft Office tools Full UK Driving License A familiarity or working knowledge of the following tools will make your application especially competitive: BIM, Revit, DIALux, SolidWorks Professional, AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, Autodesk Passionate and knowledgeable about climate change, sustainability and/or the EV industry and willing to attend training/courses as required TSG UK Career Opportunities: Potential career paths include professional development to Team Leader, building the team resources as the company grows to meet demand, with natural progression for management opportunities.
