THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

We’re looking for an IT Senior Operations Analyst, Out of Hours to join our Cloud & Service Delivery team based in Edinburgh.

Our IT Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring the bank's technology services remain available, resilient and responsive for both customers and colleagues. Operating at the heart of our technology estate, the team provides 24/7 monitoring of core business services and responds rapidly to incidents, helping minimise disruption and maintain service performance across the bank.

As an IT Senior Operations Analyst, you'll combine technical expertise, operational oversight and strong decision-making to support the bank's critical services out of hours. Working within a dedicated team of IT Operations Analysts and Senior Analysts, you'll monitor service health, investigate anomalies, coordinate technical recovery activity and help drive continuous improvements to service observability and operational performance.

We're shaping the way we work through innovation, collaboration and the use of digital tools to create reliable, resilient and customer-focused technology services. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring the bank's critical technology services and responding to incidents, alerts and service anomalies to maintain operational stability.
  • Leading incident triage and recovery activities, coordinating technical teams and stakeholders to minimise customer and business impact.
  • Supporting the continual enhancement of monitoring and observability capabilities to improve service visibility and performance.
  • Acting as a senior point of escalation within the team, providing guidance, direction and decision-making support during operational incidents.
  • Building effective relationships across technology teams, business functions and third-party suppliers to ensure seamless service delivery.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Our people are our greatest strength. Every individual contributes unique perspectives that make us stronger as a team and as an organisation. We're enabling teams to go beyond by valuing who they are and empowering what they bring.

The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills and abilities essential for success in this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess incidents, prioritise actions and coordinate effective resolutions under pressure.
  • Experience of technology monitoring and service operations within a complex IT environment, ideally covering applications, infrastructure, networks, middleware or cloud services.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical, supplier and business teams.
  • Knowledge of IT service management principles, including incident, problem and operational management, with ITIL experience advantageous.
  • Understanding of banking technology environments and change management practices, with exposure to services such as digital banking, payments, ATM, mainframe or distributed platforms being beneficial.

WORKING PATTERN

This is an out-of-hours position operating on a shift pattern of 7pm to 7am, Monday to Friday, with some weekend working requirements. Colleagues typically work three to four shifts per week. A sample rota can be provided during the recruitment process.

For an informal conversation about this opportunity, please contact Nicholas Alexander or Scott Ballantyne.
