We are working with a leading property consultancy to recruit M&E Asset Surveyors for a major schools surveying programme across Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term contract delivering Mechanical & Electrical asset verification and condition surveys across a portfolio of educational facilities. The survey data collected will support asset management, lifecycle planning and future capital investment programmes.

The Role

  • Conduct Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) asset verification and stock condition surveys across a portfolio of schools.
  • Undertake visual inspections and condition assessments of M&E building services, plant and equipment.
  • Identify, verify and record M&E assets, including HVAC, electrical systems, mechanical services, public health systems and associated building services.
  • Capture asset information and condition data using tablet-based surveying software and asset management systems.
  • Assess asset condition, remaining life expectancy and maintenance requirements in line with client specifications.
  • Produce accurate asset registers and survey data to support lifecycle replacement planning and asset management strategies.
  • Liaise with project managers, client representatives and wider project teams throughout survey delivery.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and quality management procedures while working within occupied school environments.
  • Deliver surveys independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail.

About You

  • A background in either Mechanical or Electrical building services, facilities management or building maintenance.
  • A good understanding of Mechanical & Electrical systems within commercial or public sector buildings.
  • Working knowledge of CAFM (Computer-Aided Facilities Management) systems and asset management principles.
  • An understanding of SFG20 planned maintenance standards and lifecycle asset management.
  • The ability to identify, verify and accurately record M&E assets.
  • Experience using tablets or digital data capture systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data collection.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across Birmingham.
