The survey data collected will support asset management, lifecycle planning and future capital investment programmes.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out Mechanical & Electrical asset verification and condition surveys across a range of school buildings, identifying and recording M&E assets while assessing their condition and remaining lifecycle. Working independently across multiple sites, you'll ensure survey information is captured accurately using digital asset management software.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) asset verification and stock condition surveys across a portfolio of schools.
- Undertake visual inspections and condition assessments of M&E building services, plant and equipment.
- Identify, verify and record M&E assets, including HVAC, electrical systems, mechanical services, public health systems and associated building services.
- Capture asset information and condition data using tablet-based surveying software and asset management systems.
- Assess asset condition, remaining life expectancy and maintenance requirements in line with client specifications.
- Produce accurate asset registers and survey data to support lifecycle replacement planning and asset management strategies.
- Liaise with project managers, client representatives and wider project teams throughout survey delivery.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and quality management procedures while working within occupied school environments.
- Deliver surveys independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail.
About You
We're looking for candidates with a solid background in Mechanical or Electrical building services who have a good understanding of building services assets and maintenance. Previous asset surveying experience is beneficial but not essential.
You will have:
- A background in either Mechanical or Electrical building services, facilities management or building maintenance.
- A good understanding of Mechanical & Electrical systems within commercial or public sector buildings.
- Working knowledge of CAFM (Computer-Aided Facilities Management) systems and asset management principles.
- An understanding of SFG20 planned maintenance standards and lifecycle asset management.
- The ability to identify, verify and accurately record M&E assets.
- Experience using tablets or digital data capture systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data collection.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across Birmingham.
