We are seeking an experienced and immediately available Freelance Building Surveyor to conduct a portfolio of crucial School Condition Surveys across the Newcastle area.
This is a key assignment with a dedicated scope, providing reliable daily rates and covering your essential travel costs. The work is ready to start now and will run through to the end of the year (December 2025).
??? Key Responsibilities
As a hands-on Freelance Surveyor, your primary duties will include:
- Undertaking condition surveys on various school buildings and assets throughout the Newcastle region.
- Utilising handheld technology (tablet/smartphone) and the dedicated asset capture software Elias to accurately record all asset data, condition ratings, and photographic evidence.
- Identifying and recording immediate repair needs, planned maintenance requirements, and statutory compliance issues.
- Working autonomously and efficiently to meet daily survey targets and overall program deadlines.
- Maintaining clear, professional communication with the project management team.
?? What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate must possess:
- Proven experience as a Building Surveyor (or similar role) in undertaking condition-based surveys, ideally within the education, public sector, or large portfolio environments.
- Demonstrable technical proficiency and experience using handheld asset capture software (experience with Elias is highly advantageous, but full training will be provided to proficient users of similar systems).
- Strong technical knowledge of building defects, repair methodologies, and lifecycle costing principles.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a reliable vehicle for travel within the Newcastle area.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Degree in Building Surveying, HNC/HND, or equivalent professional accreditation like MRICS/AssocRICS is beneficial but not essential for this freelance role).
